LMCLP SkillsBank - providing support to community groups and not-for-profit organisations across north central Victoria Does your group require assistance with a project, help to manage an event, advice on marketing your message, or sponsorship ideas? Would you like guidance with organisational development issues and strategic planning? Do you have a vacancy on your Board/Committee of Management that requires specialist skills? Looking for a guest speaker for an upcoming event, or need a facilitator for a workshop/brainstorming/planning session? If you answered yes to any of these questions SkillsBank could be the answer. LMCLP SkillsBank links
graduates from our Community Leadership Program with community and
not-for-profit organisations who require external advice and/or assistance
free of charge. Established in 1998, over 250 residents from across the region have participated in the program to date and are now involved in a wide range of community leadership roles including Board memberships, Local Government Councillors, Sporting, School and Community Group Committees of Management, and active in community development groups, Landcare, CFA and other important community organisations. To help broaden the involvement of our graduates in their communities even further, we have established a SkillsBank. As the name suggests, this is a bank of skills – those of our graduates – which we make available to community groups and not-for-profit organisations free of charge to undertake projects/activities that have a strong community benefit. |

Applying for assistance Applying for assistance is simple. All you need to do is register a project by completing the LMCLP SkillsBank Request for Assistance Form. The information in this form will assist us in placing a suitable LMCLP graduate with your organisation. It is aimed at assisting us in understanding the exact nature of the support required. It is therefore important for you to give us as much information as possible and provide any additional information that may help us understand your organisation better (eg annual reports, brochures etc). To download the Request for Assistance document as a Microsoft Word document, click here. Once an application is received and approved, the SkillsBank Coordinator will search the SkillsBank database of 250+ LMCLP graduates, each with a diverse range of skills and life experience, to determine the most suitable graduate for the project at hand. A Service Agreement is then
established and the project can get underway. At the conclusion of the
project, a short evaluation survey is undertaken to determine whether or
not the agreed outcomes have been achieved. Graduates are providing their skills and time free of charge to not-for-profit/community groups, therefore the purpose of their assistance is to support and strengthen the groups capabilities rather than to undertake lengthy hands-on work themselves. SkillsBank is open to all not for profit groups and organisations within the north central region of Victoria and requests are received from a diverse range of groups with a wide variety of needs. Often community groups find that they require the assistance of a specialist skill or the ideas of an outsider in order to move their group or organisation forward. Graduates can assist with a diverse range of activities including:
