LEADERS SEE VISION FOR THE LODDON MURRAY REGION

In Bendigo on Friday 26 March 2010, participants in their second program day saw the vision for the region highlighted in a flight over Loddon Murray communities.

Michael Fitzgibbon, 18, the youngest participant in the program, experiencing his first flight, said, “It was awesome! You can see so much up there.”

Chris McCormack, Regional Manager from sponsor Parks Victoria spoke their role in managing our parklands.

At ABC Radio Bendigo, presenters Jonathan Ridnell and Fiona Parker, highlighted the important role of local radio in community matters.

WIN Television’s Elizabeth McDonald spoke about information and current news items and conducted a studio tour, James Masters from WIN Television, encouraged regional contributions to the media, because “News is the linchpin in communities”.

At the Powercor Vision of the Region Dinner, after a welcome by the Mayor Cr Rod Campbell speakers were  Ms Jenny Dawson, Chair, Regional Development Australia Committee for Loddon Mallee Region; Mr Chris Riviere, Customer Management Powercor and Citipower, and Mr Damien Drum, MLA, Member for Northern Victoria.

The three leaders are committed to a vision for the region that recognised the voices of all the people living in communities across the Loddon Murray Region.

Ms Dawson emphasised the Strategic Plan for the Loddon Mallee region. She said “We have to support the loud and proud farmers of our area”

Mr Chris Riviere spoke of the importance of keeping communities informed about future changes in technology that conserves energy and increase sustainability of services and the environment in the region

Mr Damien Drum MLA is currently travelling across the State talking to people living in rural, remote and regional said “Do not be constrained by the present”
