Friday 12 February 2010 in Kerang

Community Leadership Journey begins for 23 north central Victorians

The 2010 Loddon Murray Community Leadership Program (LMCLP) was formally launched at Kerang last Friday evening, with a special celebration dinner to announce the 23 participants in the 2010 program.

Guest speaker for the evening was the highly entertaining founder of the Beechworth Bakery and motivational speaker Tom O’Toole, who shared with the audience his insights into business and leadership over the last 25 years: “Culture is caught, not taught”.

Mr O’Toole said that “Leaders celebrate” and on this occasion he helped future leaders celebrate the start of a journey which will involve 24 program days across central and north-west Victoria, as well as trips to Melbourne and Canberra exploring diverse themes including water, health, education, and cultural diversity.

The 2010 participants represent 10 local government areas across the region and include:

Sue McLean from Charlton (Buloke Shire); David Barker from Rochester and Melinda Mann from Echuca (Campaspe Shire); Kristen Dyer from Moama (Murray Shire); Michael Fitzgibbon and Ben Pearce from Maryborough (Central Goldfields); Shiralee Bothe and Scott Mclarty from Bendigo, Sharon Fullex from Goornong, and Rachel Paterson from Heathcote (City of Greater Bendigo); Brent Heitbaum from Kerang (Gannawarra Shire); Louise Bewley from Wedderburn, Kim Hanlon from Inglewood, Jacinta Hicks from Calivil, and Lacey Quinn from Pyramid Hill (Loddon Shire); Sam Luxemburg from Hesket and Michele Velik from Kyneton (Macedon Ranges Shire); Suzanne Bloom from Harcourt, Jacqueline Brodie-Hans from Elphinstone, Suzanne Grimes and David Vivian from Castlemaine (Mount Alexander Shire); and Tricia Brennan and Alice Saville from Swan Hill (Swan Hill Rural City).
